What is Play?
‘What children and young people do when they follow their own ideas and interests in their own way and for their own reasons’ Getting Serious about Play
Play is a process and not a product
Play is an outcome in itself as well as contributing to other outcomes
Opportunities for risk and challenge in play are vital to a child's development. Click here for the Managing Risk in Play Provision position statement from the Play Safety Forum
Play can be in a park, can be in a staffed setting, can be at home or in the street. Play providers are those organisations involved in providing and facilitating play opportunities for children and young people. It could be a Mothers and Toddlers Group, a local parent led Community Youth Club or a Parish Council providing an equipped play space. There are many varied play providers across the south east and Re:Play aim to support all voluntary and community groups providing play.
